Pupil completely dilated and unresponsive. Retina grossly pink but wide-spread multi-layered floating debris and retinal tissue throughout. Pecten difficult to discern, partially obscured and distorted by retinal damage.

BADO found at intersection in Charlotte, susp HBC. On admission, bird was quiet in box, standing, reacted to being grabbed and bitey in hand. Noticed that OS was soft and leaking. NSF on PE other than eye damage. Didn't stain the eyes, but I wonder if the eye will reinflate. Otherwise, this bird is a potential candidate for evisceration. Banded and set up in KR2 kennel and bird stood at front.

Right eye:
Retina is overall WNL. Small vertical tear ~1-2 o' clock from pecten and some minor pits laterally
Left eye:
Globe is slightly deflated, soft. No PLR, pupil fixed. Can hardly visualize retina, but what was visible was soupy and had large blood clots. Presumed blind.
